NEW Weston Rout K Bus
Bus Service Begins
Responding to the needs of area employees, shoppers, senior citizens and those that can't afford to drive, the Weston Board voted to provide bus service to the community which began on January 2, 2006.Since its debut, there have been a few changes to make things less confusing to our riders. In September 2006, the Wausau Area Transit System (formerly known as WATS) changed their name to Metro Ride , as the bus service continues to expand outside the Wausau area.
Also, in an attempt to make the bus more recognizable, and differentiate it from other similar ones, and to most of all preserve customer service; the Weston Route K will now be serviced with the larger standard transit bus rather than the smaller shuttle bus.
The route will still continue to run on a 30-minute intervals during the week (60 minutes on Saturday) and will service the Target / Pick N Save shopping district, the Aspirus Clinic, the Weston Regional Medical Center, the DCE High School and Middle School, Kennedy Park Rehabilitation Center, and the Weston Aquatic Center. This route will also be accessible to the Alpine, Colonial Gardens, and Green Acres mobile home parks.
The bus service will also provide a transfer opportunity to downtown Wausau at the Shopko Plaza (Monday-Saturday), along with a transfer to the Cedar Creek area on Saturdays.
For more information or questions please contact Metro Ride at 842-9287.
